What: Camp
for two nights in Michigan’s beautiful North Woods. Canoe through the Mason
Tract wilderness area on the spectacular South Branch of the Ausable River. Swim in the river, cook and eat outdoors, relax, participate in games and
activities, sit around the campfire, make friends.
Why: Get to know your new classmates and teachers at Kensington Woods High School. Make new friends. Learn what makes Kensington Woods special, what to expect this Fall, and how to succeed in high school. Have some fun.
When: Meet in the Kensington Woods High School parking lot, 3700 Cleary Drive, Howell, at 1 pm Thursday August 21st. Depart at 1:30pm. Parents pick students up at school at 3:00 pm on Saturday August 23rd.
Where: We will be camping at Canoe Harbor State Forest Campground, located about 14 miles east of Grayling, MI, a 2 ½ hour drive north of Howell.
Who: All
incoming freshman are requested to attend. Older students will serve as junior
leaders to help orient freshman to KWHS. The adult leaders will be Kensington
Woods teachers and staff. Parents are welcome to attend. Siblings are welcome
with a parent.
Cost: $50 per student which includes food, campsite, and canoe. Partial camperships available if cost is a hardship – call Gail at the KWHS office. No cost for drivers.
Bring: A list of things to bring is on the back of this page. No previous canoeing or camping experience required, just a sense of humor.
Reserve Your Spot: Please call or email trip leader David Coupland (KWHS math and science teacher), 734-972-0928, david.coupland@gmail.com by August 11th with a list of people attending from your family. ADULT DRIVERS NEEDED. Permission slip and payment due by August 14th. Students may not attend without a permission slip. Make checks payable to Kensington Woods High School. Please mail the check and permission slip to Freshman Campout, KWHS, 3700 Cleary Drive, Howell, MI 48843, or drop them off at the school office.
